ABSTRACT

Public Services - Prohibition & Excise Department – Permission to fill up the posts of Prohibition & Excise Constable by direct recruitment – Accorded – Orders – Issued.

REVENUE (EXCISE.I) DEPARTMENT

ORDER:

 The Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise, A.P., Hyderabad in his letter seventh read above, has stated that the Government have permitted to fill up the vacanicies of 1434 Prohibition and Excise Constables vide G.O. first read above.  Subsequently some more posts of Prohibition and ExciseConstables have arise due to promotions, retirements and deaths. As on 31.10.2011, 1172 vacancies of Prohibition and Excise Constables wereavailable for notification in the state.   As per Rule 3 of A.P. Prohibition and Excise Services Rules 1998 these posts have to be filled up by directrecruitment.

2.      The Commissioner of Prohibition & Excise, Andhra Pradesh,Hyderabad has further informed that the Prohibition and ExciseDepartment is the second largest revenue earning department for the State Revenue earning envisages crime control for which adequate number ofconstables is the most important pre requisite. Collection of intelligence, conducting raids, route watches, guarding borders to prevent inflow of intoxicant, prevention of NDPL, spurious liquor etc., require sufficient responsible manpower in the form of constables.  The department is suffering from dearth of constables in carrying out its functions effectively.  The Commissioner of Prohibition & Excise, Andhra Pradesh,Hyderabad has therefore requested the Government to issue necessary orders for filling up the posts of Prohibition and Excise constables.

3.      In the light of the above, the Government having carefully examined the issue of direct recruitment for the post of Prohibition & ExciseConstables, decided to accord permission to fill up 1172 vacancies of Prohibition & Excise Constables in Prohibition & Excise Departmentthrough District Selection Committees.

4.      Accordingly, Government hereby permit the Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise to fill up 1172 posts of Prohibition & ExciseConstables which shall be in addition to the 1434 posts ordered to be filled up vide G.O. first read above following the guidelines issued in the G.Os. first to fifth read above.

5.      The Commissioner of Prohibition & Excise, A.P., Hyderabad shall take further action in the matter accordingly.
